The book Science, Technology and Medicine in the Making of Lisbon (1840–1940) includes a chapter by Inês Gomes, CEIS20 collaborating researcher in the ReSEED project, called “Allies or Enemies? Dogs in the Streets of Lisbon in the Second Half of the Nineteenth Century”, on the stray dogs in Lisbon, the City Council’s attempts to “put an end to this scourge”, animal welfare movements and rabies in the second half of the 19th century. The book will be presented by researchers Tiago Saraiva (Drexel University) and Agustí Nieto-Galan (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona).
