Weaving communities: Paths of the Arts in Social Intervention, Education and Citizenship

The conference Weaving Communities: Paths of the Arts in Social Intervention, Education and Citizenship will take place on 21 and 22 March 2024 in Leiria. This initiative aims to contribute to the reflection on the transformative role that the arts have played in the social field, in education, in the construction of citizenship, in civic processes and in the strengthening democratic attitudes, promoting the inclusion of all people in their specificity.

The conference has four main themes: Arts, Social Intervention, Education, Artistic-Cultural Mediation, Inclusion and Citizenship.

The call for papers is open until 15 January.

Topics: Arts, participation and communities; arts and education; arts and social intervention; arts and cultural mediation; arts and cultural mediation in educational contexts.

The conference addresses teachers, researchers, students, social, cultural and artistic professionals and the general public.

This initiative is organised by CEIS20-University of Coimbra, the School of Education and Social Sciences of the Polytechnic of Leiria and the Leiria District Branch of EAPN Portugal.

Main partners: National Plan for the Arts, Leiria Municipal Council, Marrazes School Cluster, Arquivo – Bens Culturais, LeiriMar Training Centre, Marrazes and Barosa parish cluster and ATLAS Leiria.
