A psychologist by training, he was a leader of the MUD youth organisation in the 1950s and took an active part in various student struggles against the regime. In 1958, he was a member of the Civic Electoral Commission of Lisbon Students for the candidacy of Arlindo Vicente for the Presidency of the Republic. Before and after 25 April 1974, he worked for the PCP political party. He taught Mathematics and Psychology at the Bento de Jesus Caraça Vocational School (1990-2001) and was also a trainer for the CGTP-IN. He was one of the founders and leaders of the Iúri Gagárin Portuguese Association for Friendship and Cooperation (formerly the Portugal-USSR Association). He was married to Lina Seabra Dinis, daughter of Joaquim Seabra Dinis, a key figure in the history of medicine, especially Portuguese psychiatry, a militant intellectual in the communist political culture, a writer and a tireless promoter of scientific culture. Lina Seabra Dinis and Armando Myre Dores generously donated Joaquim Seabra Dinis’ scientific library to CEIS20, with CEIS20 researchers João Rui Pita and Ana Leonor Pereira acting as intermediaries.

CEIS20 sends its deepest condolences to his family.
