As the preparation of applications to national and international competitive funding bodies for research projects requires a long period of preparation and planning, the Scientific Coordination of CEIS20 has systematised a set of guidelines to organise the applications for support under heading 4 of the Centre’s Financial Regulations, with the aim of supporting exploratory and/or additional projects or actions.

In this context, CEIS20 already has two Exploratory Projects in the early stages of planning and implementing their activities. “Joaquim – The Earl of Ferreira and his legacy”, whose lead researcher is Nuno Coelho. This project aims to explore and interpret the life and work of Joaquim Ferreira dos Santos, known as the Earl of Ferreira, and his legacy and what he represents today, with a special focus on his material and economic heritage. “REPROGRAM-EU: Fostering inclusive values, policies, and identities through participatory cultural programming in the European Union”, with Sérgio Neto as the lead researcher, aims to carry out exploratory research to examine how young Europeans relate to the European Union (EU) and to test an intervention model to counter the current rise of extremism on the continent through creative and participatory cultural programming.
