Foreign Language Proficiency Test for Applicants to Master's Degrees in Teaching

All the applicants to the Master’s Degree Courses in Teaching Portuguese and a Foreign Language, in Teaching English, and Teaching English and a Foreign Language at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FLUC) of the University of Coimbra are obliged to sit Proficiency Tests concerning the Foreign Languages that comprise the courses to which they apply.

It is not necessary to register in order to sit the Test. Applicants must present themselves to sit the test if their application to one of the Master’s Degree Courses in Teaching that include foreign languages has not been invalidated by the end of the day preceding the scheduled date.
These tests are seriation criteria and not attending them or not having a successful assessment (having a grade lower than 10) is reason for exclusion.
Applicants who successfully accomplished this Proficiency Test at FLUC over the last two years are exempt from sitting it again.

Master's Degree Course in Teaching Portuguese and a Foreign Language (7-12)

a) correction and fluency in Portuguese and foreign language;

b) appropriateness of speech to the communicational situation in both languages;

c) knowledge of the Portuguese education system and the reality concerning the teaching of Portuguese and foreign languages in the 3rd cycle of Basic and Secondary Education;

d) substantiation/motivation for choosing this Master´s Degree Course;

e) reflexion on the appropriateness of the personal profile to the characteristics of the teaching profession.

Master's Degree Course in Teaching English and a Foreign Language (7-12) 18th and 19th July as from 09:00 a.m. The interview will be in-person and at an hour to be indicated for each selected applicant. 20th September as from 09:00 a.m. The interview will be in-person and at an hour to be indicated for each selected applicant.
